Description:

Michael is well known for creating lively, dynamic portraits using the core potentials of watercolor: transparency, lightness, and spontaneity. He is often called a “sunny watercolorist” because his airy, transparent paintings look as though they emit sunlight.

His traditional academic art education, extensive experience as a theater stage designer, and his career as an oil painter have informed his current priority as a watercolor artist – the depiction of light.

In this workshop recording, Michael introduces you to the project construction technique that he uses most often, with step-by-step and layer-by-layer image construction. He uses both dry brush techniques and soft transitions. Where to start? How to structure the work correctly? Together, incrementally, you will make a complex, detailed portrait project. Learning Michael’s unique technique will be valuable for artists of any skill level.

Lengh: 3 hours.

In preparation for the workshop, we provide both the reference image and the supply list.
