Vineyard Walk Along a cobblestone lane at the edge of Speyer, a quiet German town on the west bank of the Rhine, a small vineyard spread out in front of me. Seemingly untouched by time, the age-old stone wall and rugged vines struck by the morning sun were irresistible. I tucked under the shade tree and made a quick watercolor sketch, taking note of shades of green and color complements. Intimidated by the wall of green I saw when I got to put brush to paper in my studio, I almost passed on the opportunity to collect my memories in a painting. So glad I took up the challenge.
