Kari was the hostess at a quiet Arizona desert inn where I had been teaching workshops annually for over ten years. On one of those occasions, I asked if she would sit for me for a series of photographs. She posed for me in a number of settings and different lighting conditions while, as was my practice, I photographed nearly 200 images. While reviewing the frames later in my studio, I came across and was taken with, this image of her unguarded and spontaneous expression.
