Most of 2023 I spent house bound due to chronic illness and hip surgery. Finally, I felt well enough to go to Lassen National Park with a friend. The skies were moody, ever changing, and brought me great joy and ever changing views for future paintings. I sat on the shore of Manzanita Lake looking at this view of Lassen Volcano with tears in my eyes, and painted a sketch of what I saw in liquid graphite knowing that I would be painting something larger with this amazing view!
