"Lit from Within" is part of a series of paintings inspired by my first hiking trip to the Utah canyon lands. I was in absolute awe, fascinated by the deep play of shadows and light, how the same rock would change from the deepest blues to blazing oranges. This canyon was one of the most intriguing because the entire hike is up a creek bed, so the water reflects and bounces the same light and shadows. Pure magic.
