One balmy summer evening my husband and I took a picnic to the lake near our house. These women were sitting peacefully nearby, laughing and talking while watching their children play in the lake. The combination of the setting and the weather and the adjacent lighthearted interaction gave me an almost buoyant feeling that I knew I wanted to try to translate into a painting. I was able to make some fairly detailed sketches and notes that evening, which later informed the painting "Lakeside Repose"
