The work I submitted for possible selection into the exhibition I feel reflects the Pacific Northwest coastline. I grew up in Astoria Oregon, and remember all the stores of ships running aground on the Columbia River on the way out to sea. There is a local restaurant in Astoria name Ships Inn that has an authentic map of the passageway out of the mouth of the Columbia River that maps out all the lost ships from the 1600’s to present that show all the old sailing vessels that have ran aground. I had also wanted to paint this style of ship in Acrylic. The actual name of the Clipper ship is the Zodiac out of Bellingham. I feel this paint capture that earlier time in the past when sailing vessels sailed out to undiscovered landing in search of good to purchase and trade in the Asian Minor. Truly enjoyed painting it.
