De-commissioned for many years, the Georgetown Steam Plant is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in the early 1900's, it produced the electricity needed to run Seattle's trolley cars. Although the steam plant is not open to the general public, I have had the opportunity to paint inside with a group of NWWS painters twice. The light coming in from the windows beautifully Illuminates the huge generators and other industrial machinery inside. This painting was done in the studio, inspired by the plain-aire work I did inside the building and the photos I took.
