Working with the sounds and sights and smells is my preferred method in pulling off a painting experience and a satisfying result. This is a scene local and dear to me. As the title suggests this plein air painting was inspired by the view of the Hudson River, looking north toward Hook Mountain. The boats are in their last weeks out before being pulled in for the season. The light is getting lower and hints of orange in the greens is warning of leaves turning and winter. The chaos of a boatyard has always appealed to me, a visual treasure.
