The bare rocky ridge on the left side of the picture is typical scenery along highway 12 in South Central Washington contrasting with forested hills on the right and the more abundant vegetation along the river. The colors are generally rather muted except in the Fall when we delight in a warm array of colors. The river is bounded by rocks that have fallen from the ridges above over millenium and many are quite large.
