I lived in India for a lot of years. The monkeys have always fascinated me. My husband and I visited a small sanctuary that had a troupe of monkeys that was perfect for photographing (I am an avid photographer of the natural world). They were not too scared of humans, but wild enough that they preferred to eat leaves and play in the trees, while keeping a distance of at least five feet. As I was looking through the lens, I saw into their souls--their pain, their sorrows, the scars of their conflicts. Their LIVES were written on their faces and in their eyes. "Connections" indicates that eye contact and unspoken communication that I felt with each individual, as well as the genetic connections we have in common.
