I love painting in the damp quiet of an Adirondacks woods like the one depicted in this plein air painting entitled Black Pond Spot. Watercolor at its best can make use of the medium’s unique ability and sometimes the simple ones are the special ones. The scene inspired an atmospheric painting that spoke in various grays and misty greens. I had lugged my easel and gear in to the woods along Black Pond trail near Saranac Lake and set up by the water’s edge when I saw this spot and view.
