Xavier Tapia is a sophomore undergraduate art student at Heritage University in Washington and grew up in Wapato. His interest in art began in childhood, when he created scary characters inspired by the horror movies he watched. He works in a range of two-dimensional media, including acrylic painting, charcoal, graphite, pen, and ink wash. His work focuses on portraiture and the human figure, combining observational drawing with imaginative distortion based on his humor.
