I moved to America at five years old, and I have been drawing ever since I discovered that markers could be used on walls (Sorry, Mom!). Growing up, I moved around Washington until third grade, finding inspiration in my constantly changing surroundings, like the unique background of the PNW, and the children’s books her family carried with them no matter where they went. When I wasn’t drawing, I was learning: taking art classes, signing up for history courses, joining after-school programs, and volunteering with kids whenever I could.
In high school, I discovered watercolor, and it immediately felt like home. I just fell in love with the softness, the unpredictability, and the way watercolor can capture emotion with just a few strokes, and how my works spoke louder than ever before. Over the years, I participated in multiple art internships and a long-term residency, each one giving me the chance to experiment more deeply and find my own voice as an artist.
Now, I continue to explore watercolor with the same excitement I had as a kid scribbling on walls (only with slightly better paper). My goal is to create artwork that my younger self would have adored, and to use art to share stories, emotions, and moments of beauty with others.
