I was born in Wolverhampton, England and moved to Washington at one year old. Neither of my parents pursued art for a career, but both had skill in it. Much of the materials and supplies I use today belonged to my mother and the backbone of my inspiration came from my father. I, like the majority of today’s young artists, learned about art from a junction of creativity and nerd interests. The conventions my dad would take us to had stalls of artists selling prints and handcrafted art objects. Every time we went into town our favourite store to visit was the steampunk one, filled with modified and sculpted trinkets, jewelry, and illustrations. Throughout my life my dad fostered my interest in art in every way—because he is a creative person himself. For the majority of my life all the art I did was outside of school until college. I chose to pursue a BFA because I felt that art is something I will be learning and growing with until I die.
