My introduction to art started young with the schools dedicated time for arts and craft. Growing up it was easy to feel small around my peers since I couldn’t speak English properly and with my social anxiety it was hard to make any connections. The one time I felt seen and appreciated was during any art related activities, I was complimented and praised but importantly it gave me a chance to build a bond with another person. I often deicated my free time to my techniques and find myself the happiest when I can present to others and discuss with them about the artwork.
Eventually in middle school I solidified the idea that I wanted to further my studies with art and view it as a career path. Through the encouraging and supportive community of friends I found my passions to align with art related careers. In high school, I dedicated my summers to attending camps and programs to continue developing my technical skills. Before I knew it, art became an essential part of how I connect with people as art is a device that taught the importance of patience and self-expression.
