While visiting family in San Sebastián, Spain, last year, I had the opportunity to do lots of plein air painting. And I also collected loads for references for future painting in my sketchbook and with photos. I spotted this scene over looking the city while hiking up the hillside, just past the old town. In the foreground is part of the iconic red roof of the cathedral with the rest of San Sebastián just barely visible in the distance. This piece is painted on Strathmore 5 ply Bristol board, one of my favorite surfaces to work on.
