My inspiration for Puget Sound Fishers came from a day of plein air painting near Seattle's waterfront. That day I painted a different subject, but as I worked I also observed these fishers, working steadily, on a beautiful summer day, the Olympic Mountains behind them. I was especially drawn to the bright orange floats and fishers' waders against the blue water of the Sound, and that is was I thought of back in the studio.
