I love to paint people, am intrigued by light and the power of story, and have wanted to try painting this particular image for a couple of years. This painting is my 2nd attempt. As an artist, I don't want to just "paint a portrait", but rather try to reach deep inside a person to achieve a glimpse of the soul of that person. It is also important to me to paint beauty in this sometimes very fractured world. This particular painting is painted in both watercolor and gouache--a combination I have enjoyed using over the years.
