Painting , for me, is an opportunity to retreat into my imagination and paint not just the subject, but my feelings about my "story. I call this imaginative process “painting with my mind’s eye”; as I work to cultivate artwork that tells the narrative of who I have painted. I dribble, splatter and toil with water-media to create an image that shares the spirit of my subject and her experiences. In recent years, I have been working with ideas inspired by the life of women’s experiences from past eras. In my “ghost story” series, my protagonist is experiencing the past, in terms of her memories, the present in the form of reading and writing her thoughts and the hopes for her future.
