New York City has no shortage of vintage neighborhood barbershops. Many have beautiful and intricate details and woodwork from an earlier age. But times - and hairstyles - have moved on. This painting is an imaginary view meant to act as a composite of so many such establishments in my neighborhood. And both the barber and his client belong to another era.
