"CARNIVAL SAILS" is the most recent of decades of work dedicated to the exhilerating experience of witnessing sailboats plying the waves on America's lakes, as well as the seas along our coasts. The inspiration, more often than not, comes from summers spent along the shores of Lake Michigan where weather, season, light and wind affect the view. I find I can capture the effects of these natural phenomena by creating a WATERCOLOR WEAVING, whereby two independent images are cut up, respectively, into vertical and horizontal strips, interlaced into a doily-like fabric (Arches 140 lb.) and adhered to a supporting mat board. The result is often only partially perceptual as my imagination gets the better of me. Color and rhythm control my efforts!
