“Big Wave Surf” is a watercolor and ink painting on rice paper. Through this medium, I portray my interpretation of stories I was told about a monster wave in Hawaii. When I watched surfers there riding the waves, I could imagine the excitement of both the people and the water itself. Size is a focus of this piece— the tiny surfer contrasts the enormous wave. The dynamism of the water splashing and bursting through the paper is another concept I wanted to highlight. A viewer's own imagination is also what I would like to inspire.
