WORKSHOP HOURS: 9:30 – 4:00

Is your style typically representational, with a planned execution of the subject matter? Consider the power of abstraction, using your own sensibility, expression, and unique vision to create delightful intrigue as you paint. This workshop is designed to teach artists at any level to paint intuitively, with freedom from preconceived notions or outcome.

Stan Kurth will guide you through an intuitive process, beginning with a blank surface and without preliminary drawing, using stimulating marks and relying on shape, color, and line to add focus and guide your painting toward success. Watermedia such as Ink, watercolor, and gouache combine with the elements of design to build a truly thrilling experience and process that you can confidently apply to your own art practice long after the workshop closes.

Each day Stan will reinforce the process through demonstration, teaching you to trust in your own creativity. Let combining your own voice with design principles lead you to a joyous, strong painting that you’ll love. Join us to explore, gain insights, and transcend the expected alongside the outstanding artist and instructor, Stan Kurth.

Stan is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, San Diego Watercolor Society, and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, master status.

If you are not a member of NWWS, join before registering and save $75.00 on the workshop.

Testimonial from past workshop attendee, Lola Jovan: “The amazing GRAND MASTER OF ABSTRACTION (my name for him) is coming to the PNW! Stan Kurth is not only an award winning artist, but also one of the most influential and effective instructors I’ve ever taken a workshop with. And a heck of a nice human, too! Take a look, then sign up–I guarantee, you will not regret it!”

Testimonial from past workshop attendee, Liz Walker: “As an experienced painter, I found that Stan’s workshop was transformative. It changed my overall approach to my work. I learned to use his technique and adapt it to my figurative subject matter…After the workshop, I felt my work soar to new heights as more of my paintings were accepted into national shows. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in four days of top-notch instruction for a next-level painter.”
