Portland-based painter Scott Gellatly brings a vibrant, expressive approach to the landscapes around him. Working in oil, casein, and monotype, he moves fluidly between representation and abstraction, using lush surfaces, bold color, and energetic mark-making to transform familiar environments into luminous, emotionally rich experiences. Rooted in a lifelong connection to nature, his recent work leans further toward abstraction, distilling place into gesture, hue, and atmosphere.

Scott holds a painting and drawing degree from the University of Oregon and has exhibited nationally. His two decades in the art materials industry—including his role as Product Manager at Gamblin—inform his sought-after lectures and workshops. He now teaches widely, including plein air programs in Italy and Croatia, and is represented by LAURA VINCENT DESIGN & GALLERY and Smith & Vallee Gallery.
