AZR welcomes Sarah B. Hansen as guest critique artist on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.

During the Nov. event, Sarah’s focus will be on your best use of a limited palette within your painting. Capable of creating instant harmony, a limited palette can provide unity and focus to artwork. With Sarah’s help and conversation, artists will better understand choosing the “right” colors for their palette, and in doing so, create glowing neutrals, secondaries, and tertiary colors for a powerful painting.

Sarah B. Hansen is an award-winning NWWS signature member artist and art instructor, creating works in watercolor, gouache, and acrylic. She resides in Central Oregon, painting from her home studio near Bend. She teaches online and in-person, often conducting workshops regionally and internationally. Initially a watercolor portrait artist, Sarah is now known for her energetic landscape art, focusing on expression and movement within each piece and is a sought-after art instructor, using her skills as both an artist and an insightful mentor to find each student’s best expression in their art.

IMPORTANT MEMBER NEWS: We are implementing a new painting submission system, and NWWS members may submit up to two paintings. Please read the instructions below:

• To register, click the REGISTER FOR EVENT button above.
• To submit work for review, click the HAVE YOUR WORK CRITIQUED button on previous AZR page.
• You may submit either one or two paintings. No more than two paintings will be accepted for review.
• ALL uploaded image files should be a minimum of 1600 pixels on the longest side.
• Painting images must be labeled: First name_Painting Title_Image size in inches_Medium.
• Up to two supporting images per painting may be uploaded: a reference image and a value study.
• Supporting images must be labeled: First name_Painting Title_Reference (or _Value)
• After submitting first painting, a prompt will appear asking if you want to submit a second painting. All submitted paintings are separate submissions.
• You must attend the AZR meeting on the date your paintings are reviewed.
