Painted in plein air in Centennial Park. I worked wet-in-wet with 3-inch and 1-inch hake brushes, trying to preserve the intensity of the colors by not manipulating the paint too much. I reserved areas of paper for whites and used a stiff brush to remove pigment and suggest the blossoms. At the end I used some opaque white. An artist stopped to look and chat, and I was surprised how I managed to paint and talk at the same time as she sat and watched me. I even found it helpful to articulate what I was doing.
