I have been committed to environmental protection for my entire adult life. For the last ten years, I have been an active volunteer for the Wildlife Trusts in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, in England. The days I spend volunteering to maintain our wildlife reserves are some of most rewarding work that I do. We have a great team, the work is important to conserving endangered species, and it's great exercise! The meadow at one of our reserves has grown tall with flowers and grasses, and the scene of one of our volunteers working in the meadow surrounded by it all was irresistible. I took a photo and made some sketches on the spot, and painting this the next day. English skies are often cloudy and dramatic even on what would be considered 'nice' days. My colour choices for this painting are a split-complimentary limited palette of violet, green, and yellow.
