DESCRIPTION:THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN FILLED AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR REGISTRATION. \nBjörn Bernström is considered one of the Nordic countries foremost contemporary watercolor painters. He is a sought-after workshop instructor and has taught courses for 15 years in the Nordics\, Europe\, Australia and North America. Björn’s painting style can be described as relaxed and rich in contrast\, with a harmonious color scheme and unique choice of motifs. \nIn this online course\, he will demonstrate several of his watercolor techniques to create a loose painting using a wet in wet approach and back runs to enhance and create the unique effects that are his signature. Too\, he will show how to highlight light in the painting by using the best colors and by working with contrasts. The subject will be a mountain range by the sea in northern Scandinavia. \nYou will receive plenty of notice to be properly prepared for the workshop. \nAll skill levels are welcome to attend. Hansen! \nDuring the Nov. event\, Sarah’s focus will be on your best use of a limited palette within your painting. Capable of creating instant harmony\, a limited palette can provide unity and focus to artwork. With Sarah’s help and conversation\, artists will better understand choosing the “right” colors for their palette\, and in doing so\, create glowing neutrals\, secondaries\, and tertiary colors for a powerful painting. \nSarah B. Hansen is an award-winning NWWS signature member artist and art instructor\, creating works in watercolor\, gouache\, and acrylic. She resides in Central Oregon\, painting from her home studio near Bend. She teaches online and in-person\, often conducting workshops regionally and internationally. Initially a watercolor portrait artist\, Sarah is now known for her energetic landscape art\, focusing on expression and movement within each piece and is a sought-after art instructor\, using her skills as both an artist and an insightful mentor to find each student’s best expression in their art. \nIMPORTANT: We are implementing a new painting submission system\, and NWWS members may submit up to two paintings. Please read these easy instructions: \nTO SUBMIT WORK FOR REVIEW: \nNote: If you have already registered for this event date and would like to submit paintings for critique\, begin with Step 2 below. \n1. Register for the event by clicking the “Registration for Event” button. This allows you to receive the Zoom invitation for the event and is not where you submit paintings. \n2. Prepare Images Properly – 1 or 2 (no more than 2) paintings and 1 or 2 support/reference images PER painting:\n• Image(s) Size – minimum of 1600 pixels on the longest side.\n• Label each painting image following: Your First Name_Painting Title_Image size in inches_Medium.\n• Label each support/reference image (optional\, up to 2 per painting\, such as a value study or reference photo) following: Your first name_Painting Title_Reference. \n3. Submit Your Paintings – Click the “Have Your Work Critiqued” button. The form will appear.\n• Each painting is a separate submission.\n• After competing the first painting’s submission\, a prompt will appear asking if you’d like to submit another.\n• Submit no more than 2 paintings and no more than 1 or 2 (optional) support/reference images per painting. \n4.
