NWWS Permanent Collection
Each year the NWWS purchases one of the paintings from the annual Open Show. This painting is selected by the NWWS President and the Open Show Chairperson to be the NWWS purchase award for the NWWS Permanent Collection. This collection is housed in the Public Health Sciences Building at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
Annual International Open Exhibition
The most notable juried exhibition sponsored by the NWWS is the Annual National Open Exhibition. Painters in water media including watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and egg tempera are eligible to enter. The exhibition has grown tremendously in size and reputation since it’s inception in 1940, with annual awards totaling over $10,000.
Quality and diversity are the trademarks of this juried show. This annual exhibition called Waterworks, is exclusively for NWWS members. Over $3000 in cash and merchandise are awarded.
